What are the personal consequences of generative AI for you and your passion/work?

Hacker News[0] is a link aggregation site with a heavy pro-AI bias. At this point in the AI hype cycle, the front page is filled daily with AI-related posts. So much so, it has left some questioning the ranking algorithm and/or staff manipulation.

A website[1] which scrapes HN for stories which rank suspiciously low on the front page, despite their votes and comments, was recently shared. The exact accuracy of the calculations is of course unknown, but there is a clear trend regarding which types of stories rank lower than expected. Stories reporting on illegal corporate activities, containing anti-AI sentiments or anti-establishment sentiments in general seem to take the biggest hit.

I stopped using HN months ago as a contributor. Even as a visitor, searching for human-written submissions and comments is like searching for a needle in a haystack. Still, it is an important source of news for many people, and examining its behaviors can offer us insight into how the people behind AI are attempting to manipulate our perception of reality.
